Effective Recruitment Practices

Effective Recruitment Practices
This is not an exhaustive article on Recruitment Practices. In this article I am trying to highlight my experience and certain observations to make Recruitment process and Role of BUHR more effective.

According to me, Recruitment/Talent Acquisition is the vital function in the organization. The more mature this process is you will get right talent for your business, leading to its success.

Today in many organizations Talent Acquisition is a separate function and specialized people takes care of this activity in the organization.

This was the need of the hour in Mid-size to Large organizations as HR Generalist was finding it to difficult to take care of all activities. It is very important to devotee quality time and to have mature process to get right talent, then just running behind numbers and closures of the position.

It's important that you develop effective strategies for managing your time to balance the conflicting demands of time for study, leisure, earning money. Time management skills are valuable in many other aspects of life.

Sometimes it may seem that there isn't enough time to do everything that you need to. This can lead to a build up of stress. Once you have identified ways in which you can improve the management of your time, you can begin to adjust your routines and patterns of behavior to reduce any time-related stress in your lives.

What skills are required for effective time management?
Some of these skills including setting clear goals, breaking your goals down into discreet steps, and reviewing your progress towards your goals are covered in Action Planning.

Other skills involved include prioritizing - focusing on urgent and important tasks rather than those that are not important or don't move you towards your goals; organizing your work schedule; list making to remind you of what you need to do when; persevering when things are not working out and avoiding procrastination.

Considering the present scenario, it is important for all HR professionals to understand and have knowledge of guidelines to be followed in sexual harassment cases at workplace

Vishaka Guidelines
Against Sexual Harassment at Workplace
Guidelines and norms laid down by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Vishaka and Others Vs. State of Rajasthan and Others (JT 1997 (7) SC 384)

HAVING REGARD to the definition of ‘human rights’ in Section 2 (d) of the
Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993,

TAKING NOTE of the fact that the present civil and penal laws in India do not adequately provide for specific protection of women from sexual harassment in work places and that enactment of such legislation will take considerable time,

Superannuation Fund & Longevity Bonus

Superannuation Fund
In India, Superannuation is a perquisite extended to employees in various companies as a part of employment conditions generally to the management staff more for retention purpose. It had more significance some years ago as it entailed retiral benefit on attaining age of superannuation - say 58 years as companies in private sectors do not have pension schemes unlike Government Sector companies.
The superannuation started getting significance as many multinational companies offered this perquisite which even allows deduction up to 15 % of basic and in combination with PF, should not go beyond 27 % as per existing rules under the Income Tax provisions.

Accountability and Responsibility

How does a service company run? For a market perspective, what is its need? Why does it exist?
To provide a valuable service to its customers that they are incapable of doing or choose not to do themselves.

Who in this organization provides this service?
#The technical team –
Technical Teams in the organization are the main pillars on which organization relies on.
In order to succeed as an organization, they need to look at themselves as a chain of individuals, taking personal and group responsibility to achieve the organizational goals. And like any chain they are only as strong as the weakest link in the chain.

There is a difference between Flexibility and Discipline

This topic is based on my personal experience with one of the organizations I worked with.

As a person I give lot of importance to the word discipline. Our earlier generation were having more disciplined approach towards life. This is very much visible in their day to day actions. Discipline in life gives lot of benefits; it brings dedication, sincerity in one, resulting into success in long run.

Flexibility is equally important in life. A material with rigid frame work breaks easily then the one having flexibility. It implies in the life as well.

Efforts v/s Results

What does an Individual Expects?
Individuals expects appreciation for their EFFORTS.

What does Management Expects?
Management Expects POSITIVE RESULTS, which will lead towards the growth of the organization and individual’s associated with it.

Personal our professional life is a two way process, when you give something you expect something in return.

In our professional life, we all work for money, but money it not the only thing that provides you satisfaction and comfort, it is the amalgamation of lot of things that leads towards a Job satisfaction.

We all work very hard in life to achieve our goals set in our personal and in professional life. We all put lot of efforts to achieve our GOALS. We all get goals set by our management after having discussion and establishing consensus on it with us. We all plan our activities to achieve our goals.
